Getting to Lawrence

If traveling by air, you would fly into Kansas City International Airport (MCI).  Numerous airlines have multiple daily flights into MCI – Air Canada, Alaska, American, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, Spirit, and United.

It is then a short 50-minute drive from MCI to Lawrence (map with directions)

There are all the usual car-rental companies based at MCI as well as app-based ride-share services (Iris, Lyft, Uber, or zTrip) while numerous shuttle services run between Lawrence and MCI:

  • 5 Guys Transportation - provides shared ride service for $47 per person or private car service for up to 6 people for only $100. 24/7 live and local dispatch and reservations staff. Call 816-891-9999 or visit their website.
  • Better Alternative Transportation Services (BATS). An exclusive personalized service for up to 5 people with door-to-door delivery to any location in Lawrence. Drivers monitor flight arrivals and can meet passengers at the airport gate. Reservations are required at least two days in advance.
  • Super Shuttle. A shared-ride, door-to-door, shuttle service for up to 10 passengers.

In Lawrence

The Lawrence Transit System is offered through a partnership between the City of Lawrence and the University of Kansas.  Lawrence Transit System and KU on Wheels provide safe, convenient, affordable, reliable, and responsive public transportation.  Learn more about routes, schedules, fares, and more on their website.

Free parking will be available throughout campus in yellow and green lots (see map below) for the conference duration as the university will be on break.  The Mississippi Street parking garage just north of the Union is an hourly paid garage that can be paid on-site or through one of these parking apps.
